Some notes I wrote down in Japan

One of the only observations I wrote down in my notes while travelling through Japan was: the green looks different here. Yet, me being a lover of black and white photography, I captured this green a lot on black and white film. Not capturing in what way this green felt different than the green at “home”. Maybe it also wasn’t something you could capture, but it was just something to be felt? I guess it felt more bright, but also like it had more depth to it. Maybe it looked different because of the surroundings being different. Green next to a temple in Japan might not look the same as green next to a highway in Spain, even though they might be the same shades of green. Who knows.

Of course the green looking different wasn’t the only things I noticed. It just happened to be one of the few things that I wrote down. Another note being: i left my sole in Japan. Why? Because I needed to throw away my loafers after wearing them on a night out in Tokyo. It was the first time I wore them during the 1,5 months I was in Japan. I felt the need to wear them at least once, because else it would have been a waste bringing them all the way with me, so I wore them during my final night there. They didn’t last too long, but I hope they had fun while it lasted. No black and white picture of this, sadly.

For more of my black and white photography, there’s a specific page on my portfolio website that you might want see ❤ and there is a set of 5 black and white postcards from Japan I created.

xoxo thanks for reading this random post. I just felt like writing a first-ish post, and did this. Also to try out the system, see how things look. It’s processssss. And now you became part of it in a way.
